In recent months the price of fuel has soared to record highs, even exceeding two dollars per liter in Bahamas. The truth is that, covering the same kilometers, we can save several liters per 100 by simply following the following tips.

Keep your car in good condition. It is not only better to have a clean vehicle (we improve visibility and we can anticipate unforeseen events), but also to have the right oil level and quality and, above all, to have correct tire pressures.

Leave your nerves at home. Driving while nervous makes us be very abrupt in maneuvers, which increases fuel consumption and the risk of having an accident.

Park in the first place you find, even if it is a little further away. Many times, we want to find a parking nearly, and we end up driving around for several minutes. Consider the possibility of using a parking lot, sometimes it is cheaper than the fuel we spend looking for a space.

Don't go to the gas station unnecessarily. If on your way home or to your destination there is a gas station, take advantage of it and fill the tank before it gets close to being empty. Filling up the tank and then having to make a trip just to fill up with gasoline or diesel fuel goes against the savings you are trying to achieve.

Remove everything you don't need from the trunk: weight increases fuel consumption.

Keep a safe distance. If we are several meters away from the car in front of us, we will avoid having to brake sharply and then be forced to regain speed.

Use the gearbox intelligently. Whenever possible, take the engine to a quiet engine speed, between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm. This, as a general rule, but if to maintain your current speed you need to press the accelerator for more than 2/3 of its travel, downshift one or two gears.

Maintain a constant speed.
